The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 164 Why do you go for males unlike all other creatures 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
