The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said: if thou desistest not, O Lut! thou shalt surely be of those driven forth. 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
