Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
