The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
