The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 Except one old woman, who stayed behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
