The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
