The folk of Lot denied the messengers (of Allah), 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
