Alshu'araa' 9 of 11
[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 “What! Among all the creatures, you commit the immoral acts with men?” 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: "I do detest your doings." 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
