The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lut said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
