The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 "O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!" 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
