The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old." 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191
