The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
