Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
