[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 weigh with an even balance 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
