The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 and do not defraud people in their property or spread evil in the land. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
