The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
