The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you any reward for it, my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
