Alshu'araa' 10 of 11

[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said, "My Lord knows all that you do." 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
