The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 And weigh with the true balance. 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
