The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Shu'aib said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 "You are but a human being like us and verily, we think that you are one of the liars! 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
