The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 when their brother Shu'ayb said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 Weigh with correct scales: 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
