The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 Wrong not mankind in their goods, and do not evil, making mischief, in the earth. 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
