The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 191
