The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 And thou art but a human being like unto us, and we deem thee to be of the liars. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
