The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 Fear Him who created you, and the generations of the ancients.' 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 191
