The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
