The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
