The dwellers of the forest also rejected the Messengers. 176 When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He said, "My Lord knows all that you do." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
