And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
