Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
