Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel peace be upon him.) 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
Almighty God's Truth.
