And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
