Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
