Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
