And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
