Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say what they do not do. 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
