Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
