And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
