Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
