And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
