Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
