Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
