And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 To your heart that you may be a warner 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
