The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta-Seen*; these are verses of the Qur’an and the clear Book. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever he reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 A guide: and glad tidings for the believers,- 2 who pray regularly and pay obligatory alms and have firm faith in the Hereafter. 3 Those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have decked out fair for them their works, and they wander blindly; 4 those are they whom an evil chastisement awaits, and they will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 5 And verily thou art receiving the Qur'an from before the Wise, the Knowing. 6 Tell of Moses who said to his family, "I have seen a fire. I will bring you news from there, or a burning brand for you to warm yourselves." 7 But when he came to the (fire), a voice was heard: "Blessed are those in the fire and those around: and glory to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 8 O Moses, I am God, the Powerful, the Wise. 9 Throw down your staff." But when he saw it moving like a snake, he turned and fled. "Moses, do not be afraid! The messengers need have no fear in My presence; 10 "Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 11 And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient." 12 But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." 13 They rejected the evidence because of their arrogance and injustice, although their souls knew it to be true. Think how terrible the end of the sinful ones was! 14
