The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta'. Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Clear Book; 1 A guidance and good tidings for the believers, 2 who are constant in prayer and spend in charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 3 As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem attractive to them so they stumble around in perplexity. 4 These are they who shall have an evil punishment, and in the hereafter they shall be the greatest losers. 5 You have received this Quran from One who is all-wise, all-knowing. 6 Moses said to his family, "I have seen some fire. I shall bring you some news about it or some fire so that you can warmyourselves". 7 So when he came to it a voice was uttered saying: Blessed is Whoever is in the fire and whatever is about it; and glory be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds; 8 Moses, I am God, the Majestic and All-wise. 9 "Now do thou throw thy rod!" But when he saw it moving (of its own accord) as if it had been a snake, he turned back in retreat, and retraced not his steps: "O Moses!" (it was said), "Fear not: truly, in My presence, those called as messengers have no fear,- 10 Except those who do some wrong but afterwards do good to make up for the wrong. And I am forgiving and merciful. 11 Now put your hand into your bosom, and it will come forth shining without any blemish. (These are two of the) nine Signs to be carried to Pharaoh and his people. They are surely a wicked people." 12 But when Our signs came to them visibly, they said: 'This is plain sorcery.' 13 And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers! 14
