The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Book luminous. 1 A guidance and good tidings for the believers, 2 Who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and of the hereafter, they are sure. 3 As to those who do not believe in the hereafter, We have surely made their deeds fair-seeming to them, but they blindly wander on. 4 Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers. 5 And indeed you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), are taught the Qur’an from the Wise, the All Knowing. 6 (Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." 7 So, when he came to it, he was called: 'Blessed is he who is in the fire, and he who is about it. Glory be to God, the Lord of all Being! 8 O Musa! surely I am Allah, the Mighty, the Wise; 9 And cast down your staff. So when he saw it in motion as if it were a serpent, he turned back retreating and did not return: O Musa! fear not; surely the apostles shall not fear in My presence; 10 Except those who do some wrong but afterwards do good to make up for the wrong. And I am forgiving and merciful. 11 Now put your hand inside your cloak next to your bosom and it will come out [shining] white, without any blemish. This will be one of the nine signs for Pharaoh and his people: for truly they are a rebellious people." 12 But when Our Signs came to them, that should have opened their eyes, they said: "This is sorcery manifest!" 13 And they persisted in rejecting them wrongfully and arrogantly, while in their hearts they were convinced of their truth. Observe, then, how evil was the fate of the evil-doers. 14
