The unbelievers have said, "Shall we and our fathers be brought out of the graves after we become dust? 67 We were told about this and so were our forefathers before us. But these are no more than fairy tales that have been recounted from ancient times." 68 Say: "Go all over the earth and behold what happened in the end to those [who were thus] lost in sin!" 69 And grieve thou not for them, nor be in distress because of what they plot (against thee). 70 They say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak the truth?' 71 Say: "Perhaps that which you wish to hasten on, may be close behind you. 72 Verily your Lord is gracious to men, though most men are ungrateful. 73 And most surely your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they manifest. 74 There is nothing that is hidden - be it in the heaven or the earth - but is recorded in a Clear Book. 75 Verily this Qur'an doth explain to the Children of Israel most of the matters in which they disagree. 76 And indeed it is a guidance and a mercy for the Muslims. 77 Indeed your Lord will decide between them by His judgement. He is All-Mighty, All-Knowing. 78 So put thy trust in Allah: for thou art on (the path of) manifest Truth. 79 Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. 80 Nor canst thou lead the blind out of their error. Thou canst make none to hear, save those who believe Our revelations and who have surrendered. 81 ۞ And when the Word (promise) appears upon them, We shall bring forth for them a beast from the earth to speak to them – because the people were not accepting faith in Our signs. (This beast will rise from the earth, when the Last Day draws near.) 82
