And those who disbelieve say: when we have become dust, we and our fathers, shall we, for sooth, be brought forth? 67 We were told about this and so were our forefathers before us. But these are no more than fairy tales that have been recounted from ancient times." 68 Say: "Go all over the earth and behold what happened in the end to those [who were thus] lost in sin!" 69 (Muhammad), do not be grieved (about their disbelief) nor distressed about their evil plans against you. 70 And they ask: 'When will this promise come, if what you say is true' 71 Say, “It could be that a part of what you are impatient for is (already) after you.” 72 Surely thy Lord is bountiful to men; but most of them are not thankful. 73 But, verily, thy Sustainer knows all that their hearts conceal as well as all that they bring into the open: 74 There is nothing that is hidden - be it in the heaven or the earth - but is recorded in a Clear Book. 75 BEHOLD, this Qur'an explains to the children of Israel most [of that] whereon they hold divergent views; 76 And lo! it is a guidance and a mercy for believers. 77 Indeed, your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgement. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 78 Wherefore put thy trust in Allah; verily thou art on manifest truth. 79 Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. benefit them and similarly the disbelievers), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. 80 nor can you direct the blind to the Right Way, preventing them from falling into error. You can make only those who believe in Our verses to hear the call and then submit. 81 ۞ When the sentence will have been passed against them, We shall bring forth beastly brutes from the earth who will torment them, for men certainly do not believe Our signs. 82
