The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 DO MEN THINK that on their [mere] saying, "We have attained to faith", they will be left to themselves, and will not be put to a test? 2 We certainly tried those that were before them, and assuredly God knows those who speak truly, and assuredly He knows the liars. 3 Or do the evildoers think that they will outstrip Us? How evil is their judgment! 4 He who hopes to meet God (should know) that God's appointed time will surely come. He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 5 Hence, whoever strives hard [in God's cause] does so only for his own good: for, verily, God does not stand in need of anything in all the worlds! 6 And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do. 7 We have enjoined on man kindness to parents; but if they strive to make thee join with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return and I shall tell you what ye used to do. 8 And as for those who believe and do good works, We verily shall make them enter in among the righteous. 9 There are among men those who say: "We believe in God;" yet if they happen to suffer in the cause of God they take oppression by men as punishment from God. And if help comes to them from your Lord, they say: "We were with you." Does not God know what is hidden in the hearts of men? 10 Verily, Allah knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allah will test the people with good and hard days to discriminate the good from the wicked (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test)]. 11 Those who deny the truth say to the faithful, "Follow our way, and we will bear the burden of your sins." But they will bear none of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 Yet most certainly will they have to bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides their own; and most certainly will they be called to account on Resurrection Day for all their false assertions! 13
