The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? 2 Yea, indeed, We did test those who lived before them; and so, [too, shall be tested the people now living: and] most certainly will God mark out those who prove themselves true, and most certainly will He mark out those who are lying. 3 Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! 4 Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. 5 And whosoever striveth, striveth only for himself, for lo! Allah is altogether Independent of (His) creatures. 6 As for those who believe and do good works, We shall acquit them of their sins, and recompense them with the best for what they were doing. 7 And We have enjoined on man kindness unto parents. But if the twain strive to make thee associate with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall declare unto you that which ye have been working. 8 And those who believe and work righteous deeds,- them shall We admit to the company of the Righteous. 9 There are among men those who say: "We believe in God;" yet if they happen to suffer in the cause of God they take oppression by men as punishment from God. And if help comes to them from your Lord, they say: "We were with you." Does not God know what is hidden in the hearts of men? 10 And indeed Allah will make known the believers, and indeed He will expose the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Follow our way and we will verily bear your sins," never will they bear anything of their sins. Surely, they are liars. 12 But they verily will bear their own loads and other loads beside their own, and they verily will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they invented. 13
